CA

The Chartered Accountancy (CA) course in India, regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), consists of three main levels: CA Foundation, CA Intermediate, and CA Final. Each level has a set of group-wise subjects.

CA Foundation (Entry Level)

The CA Foundation course is divided into four papers:

  • Paper 1: Principles and Practice of Accounting
  • Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
  • Paper 3: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics
  • Paper 4: Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge
  • Each paper is worth 100 marks, and students must clear all four papers to proceed to the next level.

    CA Intermediate (Second Level)

    CA Intermediate is divided into two groups, each with four subjects. Students can appear for both groups together or one group at a time.

    Group 1

  • Paper 1: Accounting
  • Paper 2: Corporate and Other Laws
  • Cost and Management Accounting
  • Paper 3: Cost and Management Accounting
  • Paper 4: Taxation
  • Section A: Income Tax Law
  • Section B: Indirect Taxes (GST)
  • Group 2

  • Paper 5: Advanced Accounting
  • Paper 6: Auditing and Assurance
  • Paper 7: Enterprise Information Systems & Strategic Management
  • Section A: Enterprise Information Systems
  • Section B: Strategic Management
  • Paper 8: Financial Management & Economics for Finance
  • Section A: Financial Management
  • Section B: Economics for Finance
  • CA Final (Third and Final Level)

    CA Final is also divided into two groups, each with four subjects. This is the last level of the CA course.

    Group 1

  • Paper 1: Financial Reporting
  • Paper 2: Strategic Financial Management
  • Paper 3: Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics
  • Paper 4: Corporate and Economic Laws
  • Section A: Corporate Laws
  • Section B: Economic Laws
  • Group 2

  • Paper 5: Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation
  • Paper 6: Elective Paper (Choose one of the following)
  • 6A: Risk Management
  • 6B: Financial Services and Capital Markets
  • 6C: International Taxation
  • 6D: Economic Laws
  • 6E: Global Financial Reporting Standards
  • 6F: Multidisciplinary Case Study
  • Paper 7: Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation
  • Paper 8: Indirect Tax Laws (GST and Customs)
  • Each group must be cleared to complete the CA Final level and qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
